Próchnica wczesna: praktyczne wskazówki dla zespołu stomatologicznego |
|
Early Childhood Caries: Practical Tips for the Dental Team |
|
key words: |
nutrition, dental plaque, prophylaxis, early childhood caries, oral health |
summary: |
We all have likely heard the term “Early Childhood Caries” or its acronym ECC before. However, there may be members of the dental team who are somewhat unfamiliar about what exactly ECC is. The term was adopted in the late 1990s in an attempt to highlight the multifactorial nature of caries development in young children.1While inappropriate infant feeding practices certainly increase the risk for caries, past antecedent terms like “baby bottle tooth decay” and “nursing caries” oversimplified the issue. |
